Walter Paschke, age 96 of Grafton, ND formerly of Forest River, ND passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at his home in Grafton.
Walter Paschke was born December 31, 1925 on the family farm in Ardoch Township, ND, the oldest child of the late John and Johanna (Gerszewski) Paschke. He grew up and attended school near Ardoch and later attended the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton for a year. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Durkin on October 24, 1951 in Ardoch. The couple moved to a farm near Forest River and Walter began his lifelong farming career. Several years ago, the couple moved to Grafton.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto and a former member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ardoch. He enjoyed dancing, gardening and tinkering in his shop.
Walter is survived by his wife Evelyn, Grafton, ND; children: Gregory (Tina) Paschke, Forest River, ND, Deborah Slominski, Ardoch, ND, Barbara (Neil) Munro, Devils Lake, ND, Janet (Mike) LaBonte, Rapid City, SD, John (Patty) Paschke, Honeyford, ND, Patrick (Susan) Paschke, Forest River, ND, Charles (Nicky) Paschke, Cocoa Beach, FL and Jeremy (Linda) Paschke, Forest River, ND; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; siblings: Max (Juanita) Paschke, Margaret Czapiewski, Dorothy Plutowski, Johanna Walski, Sr. Lenore Paschke and Martha (Hilary) Helmoski; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Patrick, and son-in-law David Slominski.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 10:30 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery of Ardoch, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Ardoch.
