William A. “Bill” Normandie, age 92 of Grafton, ND passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton, ND.
Bill was born August 2, 1930 in Grand Forks, ND the son of the late Amie and Ann (Boe) Normandie. He graduated from Grand Forks Central High School and graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor’s in History. Bill taught history at the St. Thomas High School. He was united in marriage to Shirley Schultz on October 25, 1958 in St. Thomas where they made their home. In 1960 the couple moved to Grafton where Bill took a teaching position at the Grafton High School. He later moved into administration and retired from Grafton High School in 1990. Shirley passed away on Nov. 11, 2007. Bill moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home in August of 2013.
He was a member of the North Dakota Education Association and the Grafton Lion’s Club.
He is survived by his daughters: Lisa (Scott) Johnson, Meridian, ID and Amy Normandie, Grafton, ND; two grandsons: Benjamin and Jacob Johnson. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and five siblings.
Memorial services will be Friday, October14, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 and Friday for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at the Grafton City Cemetery.
